Does everyone get a chance to see mechanical advantage of an economy or just the rich?

Does a man that works 40 hours a week recieve 50 man hours a week of product because of its tie to the economy and mechanical advantage? Or is that additional advantage always taken by the rich? Or will it be taken by the rich in the future? Is it possible to do 40 man hours a week of work and only get 20 man hours a week in return because your being taken advantage of in a sense? Give me some input here.
