Should I get the ipad 2 or wait for the ipad 3?

My birthday is in October and I was wondering if I should ask for the ipad 2. I do know though that the ipad 3 will come out most likely around March-April 2012 like the previous two models. I heard that the ipad 3 will have major changes from the ipad 2 like 3-D display, better cameras, and higher retina display but these are all just rumors. Should I get the Ipad 2 for my birthday in October or should I save my money and get the Ipad 3 which is supposed to release about 6 months later?
