Un-Intelligent Design: Should we "Teach the debate"?

Is it really reverent to blame such boneheaded blunders as the everted retina in the eyes of vertebrates, the bizzarre routing of the recurrent laryngeal nerve in terrestrial vertebrates, and the vermiform appendix in humans to an "Intelligent Designer"?
